How to play

  • The grid is divided into bold-outlined regions of size N (from 1 up to 5 cells).
  • Each region of N cells must contain the numbers from 1 to N exactly once (e.g. a 1-cell region contains only 1; a 3-cell region contains 1, 2, 3; a 5-cell region contains 1 to 5).
  • No region may repeat a number or contain a number larger than its cell count.
  • Cells with the same number can never touch each other—not horizontally, vertically, or diagonally at a corner (even across different regions).

Numbers 1 to N in Each Region

Every region of N cells contains the numbers 1 to N exactly once. Numbers greater than N cannot be placed, and numbers cannot repeat within a region.

✓ Correct Every region contains digits 1 to N (regions of sizes 5, 4, 3) exactly once, with no duplicates or omissions.
5242313124243431
✗ Wrong Number exceeds region size: the bottom-left region has only 3 cells, so it can only hold 1, 2, or 3. Placing a 4 is not allowed.
5242313124223131
✗ Wrong Duplicate inside a region: the top-right region of 4 cells has two 2s and is missing 4. A region cannot repeat a number.

Equal Numbers Never Touch (Even Diagonally)

Equal numbers can never touch along a side or diagonally at a corner, whether in the same region or across different regions.

5242313124243131
✓ Correct All identical digits are separated by at least one cell and never touch orthogonally or diagonally.

✗ Wrong Side-touching equal numbers: two 3s touch vertically across a cell border. Identical numbers cannot touch along an edge.
5242313124143131
✗ Wrong Corner-touching equal numbers: two 1s touch diagonally at a corner. Equal numbers can never touch, not even diagonally.
A small Suguru, solved.
